New World Steelbook Edition: What is included?
New World Steelbook Edition is the collectible edition of the game available for you on Amazon. It includes all the bonuses of the Deluxe Edition:
- Woodsman armor skin
- Woodsman hatchet skin
- Mastiff house pet
- Rock/Paper/Scissors emote set
- Digital art book.
And it also comes with a New World Map inside a special Steel Case. This is the first (and right now the only), physical edition of the game.
There is one very important thing you should keep in mind! Most of the physical editions of other games on the market include the DVD disc with the game. It's a common practice, but for some reason, Amazon decided not to include the DVD into their Steelbook Edition. If you buy it you will receive an activation code for the game to your e-mail! This may disappoint some of the players and game fans, but this is how it works right now.
Right now there is no edition of the game with a physical DVD.
What to do if you have already pre-ordered the game?
Most of you guys have already purchased the game on Amazon or Steam. Fortunately, you don't need to cancel your pre-order if you want to get the Steel case and the Map. There is a separate page on the Amazon website where you can buy a Map with a Steelcase but without a game for just 10$. Thus you don't need to cancel your pre-order. As you can see you can even get the map even if you have purchased the standard edition of the game.
Is the case really made of steel?
If you look at the images you will not find 100% evidence of it. Moreover, the product description also doesn't include any information about the materials used for manufacturing the case.
But if you look at one of the images you will see a www.steelbook.com text at the bottom.
If you visit this website you will see that this company produces steel cases for discs. Here is an example of what they have made for the Wonder Woman film:
As you see it's a pretty cool steel box. I expect to see something similar for the New World. Btw, here is a link to the New World page on the SteelBook.com website https://steelbook.com/releases/new-world/ but there is no useful information there.
So yes, the case you will receive will be made of steel.
What's the size of the map?
There is no information. I expect it to be not too large because the case itself isn't big at all. It is impossible to put a very large map into such case.
Availability
The product will be released on the 25th of August 2020. Unfortunately, right now it can be bought from Amazon website only. There is no information about when other sellers will get this edition.
Keep in mind that this product is limited! It will not be in stock forever. I recommend you to buy it as soon as possible if you really want to get it. It may become unavailable in several months.
