This article will tell you about the Minimum and the Recommended System Requirements of the New World [NWO] MMORPG. I also tested the game on a very outdated PC and you can read about my experience below. Hope this will help you to decide if your PC is good enough for this game or you need an upgrade.
As you see the game requires Windows 10 64-bit in both Min and Recommended setup. But many of the players still have Windows 7... Fortunately, the upgrade isn't necessary. My old PC has Windows 7 64-bit and the game runs on it without any issues.
I didn't try to run it on Windows 7 32-bit just because I don't have this OS, so I can't tell you if the game works in this case. If you have tried the game on Windows 7 32-bit, share your experience in comments, please. This will help other players a lot.
As for the Mac OS, the game doesn't support this OS officially. I didn't try to run New World on Mac.
As you see the game needs at least 3 GHz 4 cores 4 threads CPU [processor]. I tried to run it on Intel Core i5-2310 which is a little bit weaker than the CPU in minimum specs. The game did run on low settings. And now prepare for a surprise: the CPU consumption was at about 50%!
The CPU consumption was so low because I tested it with an outdated graphic card (Read about the GPU below). A better graphics card would definitely increase the processor consumption level.
But if you want to enjoy the game you will need at least 3.4 GHz 4 cores 8 threads CPU or even better.
A graphics card [GPU] is the most important thing in any gaming setup. The developers recommend at least NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2GB or AMD Radeon R9 280. These cards were popular back in 2014 – 2015, so if your PC was built at that time, you may try to play the game with the lowest graphic settings.
I am sure that it will run with these GPUs just because I have tried to play on a much worse graphic card for testing purposes. I took a PC with GeForce GTX 550 TI which was popular back in 2011-2012 and this card was able to run the game! The game did launch and I could see the in-game world. I could even take some missions, gather some resources, and boost my character up to the 9th level. To be honest, playing NWO with such an outdated graphic card is not comfortable. The game was lagging sometimes and the graphics were terrible. But I was surprised that I was able to launch and play NWO at 1920x1080 resolution with such a bad GPU.
Unfortunately, I can't attach any in-game screenshots of how the game looks on such a terrible PC. The NDA is still active…
As you see you need to have at least 8GB of RAM to play NWO. 16 GB is the recommended amount of RAM.
When I played the game on a PC with 8 Gigabytes of ram I decided to see how much resources are consumed. I opened a Task Manager to see how much RAM is used. I did blank testing right after the reloading of my PC.
The Windows itself with active anti-virus software was consuming 1.5 GB of RAM right after a reload. When I opened Steam Launcher the overall RAM consumption jumped to 1.94 GB. After this, I launched New World and the RAM consumption jumped up to 7.53 GB. As you can see 8 Gigabytes is enough, but it will be used almost entirely.
